Noun can be classified in two ways. One is based on state and the another is based on countability.

Proper noun refers the name of a particular person, place, thing or any other thing.
Here, the word particular is important. Can you enlist few name of particular persons,places and things?
Where do you live? The answer will be a name of a particular place, correct? This is an example of proper noun such as Dhaka, Calkata, India, Rajshahi etc. Still confused?
Can you make a list of your beloved persons? The each name in the list is an example of proper noun.

Note: The first letter of the proper noun is always Capital letter.
A common noun is a noun that is common to each member of a class of persons, things.
In the above three examples, the bold words are common to Padma, Megna and Jamuna that means the common name of Padma, Megna and Jamuna is river. All of them, we can call river So the word river is a common noun here
Here, the word boy is common to Sagor, Aslam and Rana. So the word boy is a common noun.
